The Translation of Second Singular Personal Pronoun “You” from English into Indonesian

House (2009:11) stated, “Translating is not only a linguistic act, it is also a cultural one, the act of communication across culture. Translating involves both language and culture simply because the two cannot be really separated.” Therefore, a translator must be able to understand how the cultural background of the target language (TL) works. The analysis that I would like to discuss
here is about how the translators did their job and how the translation results were different one another. The subject that I chose was the second singular pronoun “you” in English as the source language (SL) and its translation in Indonesian language as the target language (TL). The selection was based on an interesting experience happened to my mother in the past. Then I thought it was so very important to see how the translators work, that in the future, many other translators will do better and correct translation.
